Mike Hart, tuba helicon. Mike is a San Francisco native, growing up to the diverse musical sounds of the City.
Church choir, German music (his grandfather was one of the founders of the Deutscher Musikverein), and 1960’s rock and roll filled his early life. He has been playing ragtime music with the Pacific Coast Ragtime Orchestra for over 35 years and legitimate music with the Coastside Community Orchestra.
Since retirement he plays traditional jazz with the Fog City Stompers and the Silicon Gulch Jazz Band as well as the San Francisco Banjo Band. He also plays with the Deutscher Musikverein and Blow Musik.
He still wants to be a rock star!
Accordion & vocals. Bill was born in Bavaria and grew up as an American living variously in Germany, Austria and the States. His musical roots are in Tyrol, Austria. Besides this Bill plays traditional European Music like Waltz, Polka, Scottish/Reinlender, Reels & Jigs.
Bill has been performing with the Lighthouse String Band (Irish), Nordahl Greig Spelemannslag (Norwegian), Jeanne & Bill (Scandinavian) and occasionally playing for Nordahl Grieg Leikarring dance class.
He is also heading the monthly Musikantenstammtisch, a German, Austrian & Swiss music jam session at Esthers German Bakery in Los Altos, CA (every 2nd Thursday of every month 6:30pm to 08:30pm)
Clarinet, saxophone, guitar and vocals. Frank has many years playing with German groups in California. He has been playing professionally, part-time, for over 40 years. Frank has a bachelor’s degree in instrumental music from Chico State University.
In addition to being an original member of the Chico Bavarian Band, he has been a member of the Saratoga Community Band since 2009.
Between 1996 and 2008 Frank further was a member of the West Bay Community Band. He also appeared on numerous occasions as a guest musician with The Internationals,the Deutscher Muskiverein and Blow Musik.
Accordion, vocals & emcee. EJ is from Germany’s Black Forest. He grew up with lots of singing/singalong in the family and loves to sing and play music from Southern Germany and the Alps. His first musical instrument was the Bariton Horn (Euphonium) with the Musikverein Egenhausen (Black Forest Oom-pah Band).
At Blacky’s Big Band, a German Big Band Orchestra (at the time James Last style) he played altosax and clarinet.
With the SUNRISE Band and also in a Trio EJ played additionally bass guitar.
1996 and 1997 he played at the Seoul (Korea) International Festival.
Thomas sings baritone and is thrilled to bring his classical conservatory training to sing with Alpine Sound and play clarinet. He holds a BM in vocal performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and maintains an active performance career around the Bay Area.
In addition to performing and teaching voice lessons, Thomas directs at the San Francisco Girls Chorus and is on the music theory faculty for the Ragazzi Boys Chorus. He also directs Ragazzi’s alumni group, Ragazzi Continuo, and teaches music for the San Mateo-Foster City School District.
